Luis A. Facundo Ach. BFA-ED, ASS-ID, Facundo Design Studio Green Urban Planning. An Architect, Senior Designer with expertise in Urban Development and Small Business Development for working communities.

Mr. Facundo is a graduate of the School of Design of Altos de Chavón, in La Romana, with a degree Cum Laude, Associate in Fine Arts and Interior Design, completed his first Bachelor's degree in Urban Environmental Design at the Prestigious Parson School of Designs, NY., continuing his studies at the international school of architecture and engineering at Pratt Institute obtaining a second Bachelor's degree in architecture with continuation into his Master's Degree in Sciences of Regional Planning and Cities, The thesis has been dedicated to the implementation of the project CYCOMLAB with proposal for New York City, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

Mr. Facundo has extensive experience in practice working for companies in the field of architectural design residential and commercial projects. including Swanky Hidden Cornell Architects, Teller Clark Architects, Berger & Reid Architects, Macy’s Northeast, Store Design Department and the New York City Department of Housing and Preservation.  His proposal and vision for the development of "Efficient and sustainable" communities as the solution of decentralization of poverty are considerably his most social-economics and academic impact of his carrier.

Projects Included the Project Management and construction of the Flamenco Beach Hotel and Resort in Puerto Plata, La Caravela Hotel in Sosua,  Alterra in Jarabacoa, other field included Health Care Facilities for New York Brooklyn Hospital, Caledonia Hospital, Allan Pavilion  and Columbia Presbyterian, and Corporate office design for fortune 500 firms.   Among urban proposals; One of the most significant work in 2002 is the development proposal of the 197-A plan for the Northern tip of Manhattan, Washington Height, New York City with the development of a new special Corporate District on 181th street, Manhattan.  Local projects included, The design of numerous private residential projects and Build-design of the first Green Bodega Model in the US (2010), awarded by the Ford Foundation. The bodega was the epicenter where solar technologies, LED Lighting and use of advanced green materials such as expandable foam and carbon mesh product were integrated into the re-construction of the space with a intensive model for healthy food program.  Another proposals included a Bronx Borough plan for Pre-Kindergarten-Tech-Green, the Design of green communities for Pre-War-Veteran Displace Woman in the US.

The Firm most visionary project is a proposal under the project CYCOMLAB for the construction of 165,000 Prefabricated SIPs homes for the Dominican Republic’s staggering housing deficit of 2.2 million. The proposal encompass the construction of 126 Green Efficient-Sustainable Communities in each of the 32 provinces of the country, after a number of try-outs a number of sites are in their first phases of development starting in 2021, this advanced planning approach will serve as a guide to decentralization of densely populated areas in the central city of Santo Domingo, city of Santiago a towns and serve as a solution to aid the housing crisis in the country. Similar proposal is presented for the republic of Haiti.  

Our principles goes beyond the common belief that good design and efficient environment is NOT only for the few AND THE RICH. Each one of his associates partners operate with the notion that good healthy environment can be achieve in all types of developments sites.- While access to capital plays a role in the development of efficiency, it  is also true that a creative Design-Planning approach can serve as a game changer to projects in desperate need for development and market opportunities.  

Philanthropic Work

Mr. Facundo immigrated to the U.S as continued student. He has published architectural drawings in Interior Design Magazine and illustrations for the book publication “Cities Back from The Edge”, New Life for Downtown” John Willey & Sons, Inc. Preservation Press. He has also written several articles about community and urban development issues for the Spanish Press. As a community activist Mr. Facundo has served on a numerous boards and committees. Among the most important are: The Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Board of Directors, The New York Foundation For the Arts advisory committee, Member of the Dominican American Chamber of Commerce. He directed for Dominican State the first office of DR-CAFTA Trade Office in New York.  Coordinated the trip for Rutgers School of nursing associate consultant, in a interdisciplinary association as coordinator for the first "Mission in Global Mental Health of the University of Rutgers" within the programmed for the interdisciplinary development of healthy global communities.  His work has been replicated in project such as Centros Technologicos Comunitarios CTC-RD, Boca Cachon Community Development, RD.

His current work besides private projects are guided to the development of sustainable and efficient communities Globally.
